The Mission

Documenting the metamorphosis of waste into worth

Every object in our archive is made from materials that already existed. We record what each work is made of and where those materials came from, in the artist’s own words. We publish no estimated tonnage, no CO₂ equivalence and no modelled figure of any kind.

Each a unique piece

Every figure above is counted directly from the works and artists recorded in our archive. Where a measurement has not been documented, we do not display it.

Material taxonomy — categories represented in the archive

Counts are taken directly from the works in our archive. We publish no mass figure: the weight of reclaimed material in a finished work can only be captured by weighing it before it is used, and we will not estimate it.

Our principles

Beyond
Recycling

Existing material first

We represent artists whose practice begins with material that already exists — reclaimed, discarded or surplus — rather than newly extracted resources.

Recorded provenance

Each work is catalogued with its materials, its category of origin and the artist’s own account of where the material came from. Every piece sold carries a Certificate of Authenticity.
